FAQ’s

ABOUT US

  • We came up with the idea for our steel frame Shelfies when we noticed our garden growing in size as we had less and less grounding space for our plants. Most of our plants were potted already and yet bending down to take care of them was a bit uncomfortable and tricky. We wanted to make sure our plants were accessible while also being exposed to enough sunlight.

One day we realized we had leftover lumber in our yard but there were no frames to hold the wood up. Well, that’s when we decided to play with some design ideas and that’s how the steel frame Shelfie was born!

In fact, our idea was so revolutionary that we received a US Patent for our Design.

  • Our steel frame Shelfies are made out of American Made Steel for durability and strength. They are welded into various frame sizes, ground down for smoothness, and then sent to the powder coater for premium color coating. After each Shelfie is personally inspected, we insert black plastic feet into the Shelfie legs to keep the metal off the ground or concrete.

  • Yes. Our durable and sturdy frames are made to live through rain, summer, or winter periods.

  • Yes. Both our steel frame Shelfies and our leg extensions were made to insert standard casters.

It’s a perfect solution for easily moving your Shelfies into the sunshine or into the shade, or for easily rearranging your space. See our castors here.

  • The Shelfie frame has a set space to hold nominal dimensional wood, 2” (opening 1 1/2”) thick, for easy assembly. However, if you want to use another kind of material in place of a board, we do sell a space adjuster to make a nominal 1” (opening 3/4”) space usable. Anything thinner than 1” would not hold items of weight.

We highly suggest you take your new frames with you to your source of shelving to make sure everything fits together snugly.

Just give us a call or send us an email so we can help you decide what you need.

  • Unless you are buying a Mini Easy Shelfie, your frames will NOT come with wood boards. We suggest you take your frames with you to your favorite lumber shop to make sure you purchase the wood board that really fits your needs.

  • The first thing you need to do is to measure your space to understand what length of lumber you will need to get. Then, based on your needs and your decor style you can choose which lumber dimension would work best for you. Most of our customers choose to go with 2 x 6 lumber.

  • The wood length is mostly determined by the size of the space where you want to place your shelf. Some of our customers have used only a 2-foot length of wood to fit their Shelfies on a small deck of an apartment or condo. Others have used 12 or even 16 feet boards in big outdoor areas. Since our frames can be adjusted along the boards to give greater weight control you can put the frames in on each side to create more balance. You can also get a third frame for middle support.

  • Yes, you can always replace your current wood boards for longer or shorter boards, as long as they fit the 2” (opening 1 1/2”) slots.

  • The slots designed to fit in a board are to be used mandatorily since they are the ones guaranteeing the stability of your shelf. All of the other slots can be used or not used at your own preference.

  • Our main goal is to give our Shelfie customers the choice of wood type based on their gardening needs and visual preferences.

You can use natural, raw, highly textured wood or redwood for a rural garden. You can also have your board sanded, painted, or stained to match your garden and home style. We’d suggest that you do this when the plants are in containers that are also chosen for their design. You can also check with your local lumber shop what type of wood board would work best with the weather in your area.
